The City of Lethbridge has asked Streets Alive Mission to lead in two different areas in response to the current issues facing our city.
The first is ensuring that the at-risk population is not going hungry. We have responded by updating our bagged meals program.
The second is providing those in need with hygiene items, household goods, clothing, etc. Streets Alive Mission will be continuing with our P.I.N. Bank, as well as expanding this service to meet the growing needs.
God has generously provided us with a warehouse (thank you Bibles For Missions). This space will help us facilitate sorting of donated items. The warehouse is located at 100 – 10th St S., and donations are accepted at the WEST Side Door.
In order to aid with the rapid rehousing priority initiated by the City of Lethbridge, we are in immediate need of the following items:
Warehouse Location: 100 – 10th St. S., (corner of 1st Ave S., and 10th St. S., the old Mission Thrift Store location) drop off at WEST door only.
Hours of Operation: 9:30am to 12:00pm and 1:00pm to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday.
We will be isolating donated items for the appropriate amount of time as directed by Alberta Health.
Once the need has been filled, any left over items will be donated to thrift stores in our city.
We are also in need of volunteers to help sort donated items, make bag lunches, etc. These volunteers will have no contact with clients. Additionally, all precautions will be taken as indicated by health authorities for social distancing.
For meal preparation, please contact Trevor: cell # 403-308-8292.
For other volunteer opportunities, please contact Ally: office # 403-942-5647.
We have assured the City of Lethbridge that the faith community knows how to respond to any crisis, and do it well. We are excited to act on behalf of the City of Lethbridge and especially on behalf of the faith community at this time. Streets Alive Mission is responding to this crisis as we always do, with faith, hope, and love!
