Hey there! I’m Blair, and I run the meal program, called “Feeding ’em Hope” at Streets Alive. I work with a number of volunteers to make each night a success. We serve all kinds of different meals. They vary on any given night depending on what is donated. I also do a daily devotional before the food is served.
Most importantly, I work hard to build relationships with each and every client. I take the time to get to know each person. My goal is to go beyond just a basic hello. I want to get to know who they are as people. I learn what most of their issues are and what causes them to be in their current situations.
Providing a safe environment for everyone who attends is really important to me. I try to go that extra mile to make sure they all feel welcome. I stress as much as possible that we are equal individuals.
My motto is and always has been: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. No judgments.
I have graduated from an Addictions and Mental Health diploma program, as well as having a Suicide Intervention and Prevention Certificate.
I’m Dad to 5 great kids, and Grandpa to 3 grandkids. I love spending time them. My favorite superhero has always been Spiderman, and my favourite sport is hockey. Camping, classic cars, card and board games, and classic rock are some things I really enjoy.
I believe Streets Alive Mission has been a calling for me. I truly love my job and the people. The staff and clients feel like the perfect fit to me. It has felt like family since the first day I arrived at the Mission. It’s has become such a huge part of my life. I couldn’t imagine not being here.
